More than 7,000 Palestinians remain missing in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Center for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared. Around 4,000 are believed to be trapped beneath rubble, while more than 2,500 are classified as forcibly disappeared in Israeli custody.

The group says families are entering a fourth year without answers, as Israel withholds information on detainees and unidentified bodies while restrictions on heavy machinery continue to obstruct recovery efforts.

It is calling for the fate of the missing to be disclosed and for an independent international mechanism to investigate cases of disappearance.
