Argentina: More Than a Million People Take Part in a Pilgrimage Rehearsal for Pope Leo XIV’s Visit

🚶‍♂️ More than a million people walked 60 kilometers to the Basilica of Luján during the 52nd edition of this traditional religious pilgrimage.

🇻🇦 The massive gathering served as a logistical rehearsal for the Mass the pontiff will celebrate on November 11, as part of a South American tour that will also include Uruguay and Peru.

🛡️ Authorities are coordinating a special operation with 17,000 security personnel to manage the seven million people who will be traveling throughout the country between November 8 and 11.

📉 This expression of faith takes place against a backdrop of deep concern within the Church over rising poverty and political polarization between the Church and the national government. The deployment in the city of Luján will entail a total closure of all access roads starting in the early morning hours before the papal Mass.
