— Telegram is tightening the verification of 18+ content in channels/groups, so this feature will be used to confirm age to access restricted content.
— This feature will initially be implemented in the UK due to a new law requiring sites and apps that distribute restricted content to verify the user’s age (though it’s quite likely this will be extended to all users).
— Age restrictions range from 18 to 90 years.
— For verification, only your face is needed, a photo of a person won’t work, as the scanner can distinguish between a photo and a real person.
— There will be no document-based verification.
— Your device does not need to have Face ID.
— Your face photo is not saved in Telegram.
Age verification by face will currently be used for only one function.
If you are 18 but look younger than 18, you may be denied access to content marked as 18+.

teleLakel On the Telegram test server, an official bot (mini app) for age verification using facial scanning has been found (no, documents are not required). It’s likely that in the future, Telegram will introduce age verification for certain features. We’ll see later…
