Ol Doinyo Lengai, Tanzania 🇹🇿
Its lava is unique because it contains a high amount of sodium and potassium carbonates, giving it an unusual dark color and a lower eruption temperature of just 500-600°C. Upon contact with air, it quickly hardens and turns white, making the surrounding landscape resemble the moon.
Fun fact: Ol Doinyo Lengai is the only active volcano in the world that erupts carbonatite lava, a rare type of lava that is cooler and more fluid than silicate lava.
