#TBOT: Take Back Our Tech

⚡️Taking Back Your Privacy: Why It’s Not Over Yet

So in this clip from my chat with Billy on Permaculture Pimpcast, I’m laying it out: privacy isn’t gone if we take action. Those guys in big tech know what they’re doing, and we can do the same—just by changing the tools we use.

🪪The First U.S Digital ID App

This is how Digital ID sneaks in — quietly, through “convenience” updates. But here’s the good news: you still have agency. You can choose a physical ID. You can choose tech that doesn’t treat your face as a password. You can choose tools that keep you in control instead of building a profile on you.

Digital ID only becomes inevitable if we all go along with it.
Pay attention, stay informed, and choose the tech that respects you.

⚡️Cloudfare Takes Down The Internet; Here’s an Alternative

Cloudflare just had its biggest outage since 2019 — a bug in their bot-scoring system took down nearly 20% of the internet for hours. One company having that much control is a real problem, especially when they can also decide who gets to stay online.

There are alternatives. Tools like Anubis show we don’t have to depend on centralized gatekeepers to stay protected.

A more resilient internet is possible — but only if we build it.

I'm not convinced that Earth is flat, but I'm open to being convinced. Flat-Earth advocates often come across as militant and binary, relying on logical fallacies, which is off-putting.

1. If you want to persuade someone to change their view, mocking them is a terrible strategy—it only makes them less likely to listen.

2. Pointing out holes in the official narrative doesn't make your position true. If A is false, it doesn't follow that B is true. Everyone knows NASA is theatre, but that doesn't make the flat-Earth argument true.

3. To convince me Earth is flat, provide direct evidence. For instance, if you believe in a dome, show evidence of it. If you claim an ice wall surrounds Earth, provide evidence of the entire wall—not just a photo of a 5 km subsection. Is there really no drone footage of it? How can you claim it exists if you've never seen it?

Put another way, make an argument FOR Earth being flat; not an argument AGAINST Earth being a globe.

I've changed my views on many topics, but only through good arguments.

📡 Think your phone’s just a phone? Think again.

The billion-dollar surveillance industry is in your pocket. Every time you grant an app location permission, that data isn’t just for them—it’s for third parties who scoop it up and sell it. Companies like FOG Data Science and Venntel collect billions of location signals a day, handing them over to law enforcement without a warrant. It’s all in those Terms of Service you clicked “agree” on.

This clip is from a recent webinar where I went through the Above ecosystem and how it can help you take back control of your technology.

Lainie Liberti from Project Worldschool just released Pt. 2 of her article on how young people search for identity, validation, and connection. If their homelife isn't meeting this need, the digital world gladly will.

Today I watched this video of a couple sharing their experiences avoiding Biometric scans in South America, which are common place there as well. They talk about their experiences such as having to wait an extra hour in Peru while they figured it out. They were able to opt out of everything in South America, but these countries don't have formal laws for biometric entry/exit - I don't think the same strategy would work in the EU, but I hope to be proven wrong.

⚡️Why Your Phone’s “Privacy Settings” Might Not Matter

In this snippet, I break down how even with the highest privacy settings, your phone constantly sends data back to big tech companies. Researchers found that iPhones and Androids “phone home” every few minutes, no matter what you choose. And most apps connect to a web of third parties, many owned by Alphabet. That’s the reality of proprietary tech: it’s a black box that tracks you, while open source gives you control.
