🇺🇸⚡️ — The FBI thwarted an ISIS-inspired mass shooting planned by 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Prosecutors say Mohamud intended to attack the mall later this month and wanted to kill as many as 60 people. Mohamud had been under investigation for nearly two years and repeatedly told an undercover FBI employee that he wanted to carry out an attack targeting non-Muslims.

Authorities say he had also discussed traveling to Somalia to join a terrorist organization and expressed admiration for previous mass-casualty attacks.

He was arrested Tuesday after paying $600 to an undercover FBI employee posing as an ISIS member for a Norinco AK-47-style rifle and 200 rounds of ammunition supplied as part of the operation.
