Netanyahu said the aircraft went into a “spin” and began to “nosedive” before an Israeli passenger and crew member entered the cockpit and subdued the attacker while he was trying to sabotage the aircraft’s systems.
Additional crew members then entered and helped “stabilize the aircraft.”
Netanyahu praised those involved as “heroes” who showed “extraordinary resourcefulness and courage” and said they “saved many lives and prevented a major disaster.”
The pilot behind the stabbing was arrested when the plane landed at Tabuk Airport and is being questioned by Saudi authorities.
