There’s this phrase that people use about Holocaust survivors: survivors’ guilt.
I think my parents had something else: survivors’ responsibility.
Survivors’ responsibility to pass on the message to the generations that come next — that we are here to leave the world a better place than we found it. To never walk by on the other side. To never be bystanders to oppression and injustice.
