🇺🇦🇺🇸🇷🇺⚡️ — Ukrainian President Zelensky told Axios that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner returned from their September 5 meeting with Vladimir Putin convinced that Moscow was ready to make progress toward ending the war.

“They said, ‘We think that Putin is ready.’ I said, ‘Look, I’m not sure,’” Zelensky recalled. The envoys responded: “No, we are close.”

Zelensky said he remains skeptical of Putin’s intentions, despite Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate an energy ceasefire and other de-escalation measures.

Zelensky also said Trump was “very positive” about the renewed diplomatic effort and told him, “We will try.”
