UK watchdog investigates Microsoft 365 Copilot price increases

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating whether Microsoft gave Microsoft 365 Personal and Family customers enough information about cheaper subscription options before renewals. The probe centers on the addition of Copilot and the possibility that customers were moved to more expensive plans without clearly understanding the alternatives.

‍COSMIC Epoch 1.5

Компания System76 представила COSMIC Epoch 1.5 — очередное обновление написанного на Rust рабочего окружения для Linux. Выпуск состоялся 29 июля 2026 года, всего через неделю после COSMIC Epoch 1.4, и сосредоточен преимущественно на исправлении ошибок, повышении стабильности композитора и доработке недавно появившегося эффекта матового стекла.
В композиторе cosmic-comp добавлено обходное решение для исправления отображения приложений на базе Chromium, они некорректно отображались при дробном масштабе меньше 100%. Улучшено восстановление после сброса графического процессора: теперь COSMIC не должен аварийно завершаться, если после сброса GPU не удалось сразу создать новый модуль визуализации. Также исправлены взаимная блокировка D-Bus в средстве контроля специальных клавиш, переключение фокуса окон X11 и положение указателя у границ экрана. (полный список изменений)

Microsoft 365 Copilot Word worm survives model updates

A self-propagating Word worm can still alter documents and copy hidden instructions into new files after Microsoft 365 Copilot mitigations, including a model upgrade, failed to close the broader vulnerability class. The attack requires no macros, executable code, or access to a victim’s Microsoft 365 tenant—only a malicious document that enters Copilot’s context.

Mosaic is an i3-style auto-tiling extension for GNOME Shell

Mosaic brings i3-style automatic tiling to GNOME Shell without asking you to choose it permanently. Turn it on when you want windows to arrange themselves, turn it off when you want floating windows back. The extension works with GNOME 45 and up, adding a toggle is to Quick Settings to enable the auto-tiling mode. When off, you’re in floating mode (which still has tiling features). Проект GCC запретил приём значимых изменений, сгенерированных при помощи AI

Комитет, управляющий разработкой набора компиляторов GCC (GCC Steering Committee), утвердил правила, регламентирующие применение AI-инструментов при разработке. Правила предписывают не принимать юридически значимые изменения в коде или тексте, сгенерированные при помощи AI или производные от контента, созданного через AI. Юридически значимыми признаются наработки, насчитывающие более 15 строк. Запрет объясняется неопределённостью в вопросах лицензий и авторских прав на результат, сгенерированный большими языковыми моделями.
