In July the Albanese government announced another $4.6 billion to build AUKUS submarines in South Australia. This is on top of the $368 billion they had already committed
The AUKUS agreement is far from a defensive measure: it is escalating tension with China, plunging money into submarines that could be spent on essential services, and threatening communities including First Nations peoples with nuclear waste dumps on their land
