In September, the number of voyages via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) reached a record 133, representing a 46% increase from August and more than four times the level recorded in 2022. Nearly half of the voyages in September were by Russian-flagged ships. The surge is attributed to rising geopolitical risks on traditional routes and reduced ice cover due to warming.
