German Soldiers
Corporal Gustav Gromeik! July 20, 1913, Elberfeld near Wuppertal - October 16, 1944, Schirwindt/O-Pr
I can't find much information about him either.
Depending on the source, his last name is given as either Gromeik or Gromeike.
I can't find out whether OG was the last rank he reached.
At the end of May/beginning of June 42, he commanded a tank destroyer group of the 2nd Company, Pioneer Battalion 1, 1st Infantry Division in the Neva bridgehead in the area of Army Group North.
When the enemy (2nd Russian Shock Army) attempted to break into the German positions, the group took out 5 Russian tanks in these battles, destroying one of them himself with a limpet mine and thus contributing to the defensive success.
For the EKII and I he wore the Stumabzeichen (general), Verwundtenabzeichen schwarz, Panzervernichter 4x, RK 19.06.1942
