Student Union IU News

привет, это SU!

As you know, SU covers expenses for students' active life, such as paper for printers (yes, we know that your favorite activity is printing), decorations, food & drinks for events, and maintenance stuff

So, if you'd like to contribute or support our work, you can donate some money to the dedicated SU account:

☄️ Ongoing tension around the assessment for 2nd year students didn't go unnoticed.

We understand your concerns and worries, and have decided to take matters into our own hands and launch a swift investigation. After talking with the members of 319, DoE, and Academic Directors of the Programs, we have answers to the hottest questions. 💬

Q: What is the assessment and why is it needed?
A: Assessment has been created by the grantors to evaluate current knowledge and progress of the 2nd year students. If the majority of the students will fail the assessment, grantors will revoke their grants, which could lead to further financial problems
for the Innopolis University.
The University is required to ensure 100% attendance among the students on the list and at least 81% of scores above 70%.
The assessment is going to be three hours long on university-provided laptops with volunteer translators and certain measures.

Q: What are those measures?
A: TOP IT (CSE groups) will be proctored in person by a representative from a third-party organization. TOP DS (DSAI groups) will use a live proctoring system. Students may opt out of biometric verification, in which case they will be proctored in person throughout the assessment.

Q: What happens to my grade for Operating Systems if I don't go to the assessment?
A: If you either don't go to the assessment, submit a blank sheet of paper or not put genuine effort into solving the assessment, you WILL be sent to the retake.

Q: What if the assessment includes tasks on topics we haven't covered?
A: After the assessment, the Academic Directors of the Programs will review the tasks and answers. If any tasks cover topics that were not taught during the 1st year or fall outside the expected competencies of 2nd year students, Innopolis University will file a centralized appeal regarding those tasks.

Q: Will I be punished if I fail the assessment?
A: It depends. To pass the assessment and avoid any penalties, you must score more than 70%. If you score below 70%, your case will be reviewed individually by the DoE, and penalties may apply.

Q: What should I do if I have a legal excuse/am an exchange student?
A: If you have a legal excuse, your assessment will be rescheduled. If you are an exchange student, you will take the assessment online. ☄️

We really hope that this information will ease your worries and help you focus on the assessment preparation! ✏️
