"Is this why we're doing it?" Carter asked. "To get back at Mike?"
"What?" Brian snorted. "I thought we're doing it cause we both like Amanda. And she, too."
His enormous green eyes sparkled. The beats from downstairs, their subtle vibrations soaked through the floor and into Carter, low-synching with his own heartbeat. He was losing it. Why did they have to be this close?
"Aren't you. . . " he asked. "You know. . . a tad jealous?" The high kicked in. Real hard. His mind became warm melted butter.
"You're my bestie," Brian whispered. "I can share everything with you."

Liar! Liar!

Brian's pierced eyebrows twitched as he spoke, and his smile got wider. The shallow lamplight danced, glinting in the tiny titanium barbells. Everything about him was a distraction.

Carter gigged, "She's got nice tits, right?"
"Yeah." Brian grinned back at him. "Squishy."
The giggles grew louder. More violent.
"Squishy?" Carter burst into laughter. "Ha-ha-ha! We can't tell her! Hey, Am, don't you have some squishy tits? Ha-ha-ha!"

He grabbed a fistful of Brian's flannel shirt and held it, laughter spasms shaking him, angry, hysterical, twitchy. Brian gripped Carter's shoulder and squeezed it, trying to steady him or comfort him, or something. . . . It worked backwards. It always worked backwards, when they touched. Carter's pants were tight. Horribly, horribly tight. It's all cause of the pill, he thought. The sparkling . . . boiling . . . lemonade . . . drama . . . messing-messing-messing with his head. He let go of Brian's shirt and they rolled onto their backs, both still cackling about Am's squishy tits.

"Speaking of the camp," Carter said, once he managed to catch breath. "I do think we need to prepare. You know, make sure she likes it. . . . You know, like, we could surf for some guidelines on . . . on girls territory or something."
Brian gave him a weirded look.
"Why?" he asked.
"Well," said Carter. "If someone finds out, it's gonna be a big deal! She's gonna be shat on hard. At least we gotta be worth it, risking her reputation and all!"
"Man, someone's gotta tell you," Brian chuckled, "these patriarchal views aren't hip anymore. Amanda's a big girl. She says she wants to do us both at the same time, she's welcome a try. I don't think we need to worry about her reputation or shit like that."
