📈 Everything is going according to plan. On the second day of the elections in Russia, the SOVINTERN observers' delegation visited the city of Odintsovo

⭐️ Today, the group of SOVINTERN regional coordinators continued its work as part of monitoring the transparency and legality of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. They visited the situation centre in Odintsovo, which monitors the course of the elections throughout the Moscow region.

💡 The delegation was introduced to the institution's working process by Ermakov Ilya Aleksandrovich, an expert in remote electronic voting (DEG), a member of the Public Chamber of the Moscow region. He explained how the monitoring of the situation at polling stations is carried out live and demonstrated by personal example how electronic voting works.

🎙 SOVINTERN regional coordinators gave comments to local journalists. According to our comrades, who have experience as international observers, the electoral process in Russia is organized according to standards that surpass most countries in the world. This applies both to the quality of the work of electoral bodies at all levels and to the scale of digitalization of the process of expressing the will.

The fridge defeats the TV. The economic crisis has triggered mass protests in Syria

🛢📉 Syria has been gripped by the most massive protests since the fall of Bashar al-Assad. The formal pretext was the sharp rise in fuel prices on September 13: diesel went up by 40%, petrol by 26–28%. The authorities explain this by rising world prices and the shutdown of the refinery in Banias, but for people who were already barely making ends meet, this was the last straw.

🏚🇸🇾 Years of civil war destroyed the economy, and after Assad's overthrow the country plunged into a humanitarian catastrophe — hunger, devastation and fighting between former allies. Today almost 80% of Syrians live below the poverty line, and wages average €50–60 a month. The fuel crisis is merely the tip of the iceberg.

🚜 While the new authorities stage show trials of Assad and Western partners promise investments, people are taking to the streets with the slogans:

«No to the politics of hunger!»
«No to the fuel price hike!»
«Fuel for the people!»

📺🍴 Neither verdicts nor talk of «alliance with the West» can force the population to close their eyes to an empty refrigerator. The television loses again.

🇷🇺 After a busy working programme at the polling stations, SOVINTERN's delegation of international observers at the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation strolled along the embankment of the capital of the Moscow region, after which they touched one of the main objects of the city's religious life — St Nicholas Cathedral.

🧎‍♀️ A wonderful tour for the delegates was conducted by priest Artemy Golovchansky. The participants received a wealth of impressions and came a little closer to unravelling the mystery of the hospitable Russian soul. We are all people of different nationalities, professions and attitudes to religion, but what unites us is the main thing — a common striving to build a society of social justice and human dignity.

🇷🇺 SOVINTERN at the elections in Russia. Regional coordinators of the network act as observers at the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation

🗳️ On September 18, elections to the lower house of parliament began in Russia and will last until Sunday, September 20. Voting is taking place in a mixed format: using paper ballots at polling stations and electronically. Elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation are built on a mixed system: 225 deputies are elected by party lists under a proportional system, and 225 in single-mandate constituencies under a majoritarian system. This makes it possible to balance the opportunities of large parties and individual local leaders to be elected to the legislative body.

⭐️ Coordinators of SOVINTERN's regional hubs have come to Russia as international observers. Their delegation visited polling stations in the Moscow region. They noted the high level of organization of the electoral process and the broad opportunities for Russian citizens to express their will.

🎙 SOVINTERN Regional Coordinator for Asia Nabil Hallak gave an interview to local media, in which he noted that despite considerable pressure from unfriendly Western states, Russia is making serious efforts to ensure the population's participation in the political process. In his words, the whole world should take example from Russia in this regard.
