🇩🇪 Nord Stream sabotage trial: German prosecutors declare pipelines were not legitimate military targets

Senior Prosecutor Stefan Schmidt stated that the accused, Ukrainian officer Sergei Kuznetsov, and his accomplices understood that "Nord Stream" was a civilian object. The attack is classified as a war crime against civilian infrastructure.

The defense argues the pipelines were legitimate military targets used for political pressure on Europe and financing the war. Lawyers requested a halt to proceedings due to military secrecy constraints. The next hearing is set for October 27, with the trial scheduled until February 2027.
