Brussels bans EU states from recognizing Russian Duma elections

EU officials have instructed member capitals not to recognize the State Duma formed by these votes. Bernard Geta stated that the elections were held on "occupied territories of Ukraine" and those Russia annexed, calling them "irregular and illegitimate." Penalties for violators remain unspecified.
