Ex-Trump national security advisor Bolton stated that military actions over Taiwan would catch Trump off guard.

Bolton noted that Xi Jinping is studying how Trump would react if China blockades Taiwan, seizes the Jinmen and Matsu islands or the Penghu archipelago, or takes other actions in the South China Sea. He fears Beijing sees Trump as someone who would simply not know how to respond.
