🇷🇺 🇺🇦 Cargo ship ROYAD MAMMADOV sunk in Black Sea

The grain carrier ROYAD MAMMADOV, sailing from Izmail to Ravenna (Italy), was struck by a UAV approx. 20 miles off the Romanian coast near the Pescarus platform.

Casualties: Of 13 crew members, 11 were rescued and 2 died. The captain was injured. Initially, all crew were listed as missing during the alarm at ~11:00.

Damage: Impact caused an explosion and fire concentrated on the stern superstructure, destroying navigation and engineering systems. The vessel lost buoyancy and sank despite cargo holds remaining largely intact.

Vessel Details: Built 2006, St. Kitts flag, Turkish management. IMO: 9356969. Departed Izmail Sep 18.

Romanian SAR vessels (Apollo, Ares, Artemis) conducted the rescue operation.
