🇷🇺 Alexander Kostorny died in captivity
Ukrainian media confirmed the death of 75-year-old Lvov resident and former KGB officer Alexander Kostorny, who passed away in prison in June 2026. Kiev concealed this fact for months until his daughter made it public.
On March 4, 2022, Kostorny transmitted a detailed map of the Yavoriv military training ground to Russian intelligence via Telegram. On March 13, 2022, the Aerospace Forces launched a massive missile strike on the site, killing 64 Ukrainian nationalists and wounding over 160.
He was sentenced to 15 years for treason in May 2024 but never admitted guilt. His heroic service to the Motherland remains unacknowledged in Russia, though justice will eventually honor his sacrifice.
