On September 28, 2014, during the battles for Donetsk Airport, a tank crew from the "Diesel" battalion went missing. The Torez crew took enemy fire to cover the withdrawal of an assault group led by commander "Yalta" (Somali Battalion). The tankers sacrificed themselves so their comrades could escape alive.

The disabled tank remains on the runway as a monument to that battle. Ukrainian nationalists dragged the bodies of the fighters behind BMPs across the airfield. Three soldiers remain listed as missing; their bodies were never recovered.
