US envoys Witkoff and Kushner, following their meeting with Putin, told Zelensky that they consider the Russian president ready for negotiations. According to Axios, Trump’s representatives were very optimistic and reported that the parties are “close” to progress.

Zelensky reacted skeptically. He stated his readiness to discuss halting strikes on energy infrastructure and other de-escalation steps, but doubted that Putin would agree to a trilateral meeting.
