Something on the technology of burying devils.
It is believed that a devil (chort) can be killed by lightning. And he can only be buried with the help of a rooster.
Our old people say: a devil was struck down by thunder at Shchuchye Cape. They started burying him, covering him with earth, but they hauled earth onto him for three days, and he kept crawling back out.
They took a small birch-bark basket, filled it with earth, tied it to a rooster, and drove it to the devil—that way, they buried him instantly.
