🏠 Selling your HDB flat? Here’s what you need to know.

A licensed solicitor is required to handle the legal transfer of ownership of the flat, which includes preparing legal documents, verifying the property title, and ensuring you receive your sale proceeds upon completion.

For most ordinary resale transactions, you have the option of appointing either HDB or a private solicitor. In some cases where the transaction may be more complex due to personal or family circumstances, HDB will advise you to engage a private solicitor to safeguard your interests.

The reference to the area's heritage extends beyond the playgrounds, to fruit motifs used for wayfinding at the residential blocks, and nearby landmarks incorporated into a cheery maze garden. See if you can spot what they are!
 
MacPherson Weave also received the Construction Award at this year's HDB Awards. The project team overcame the challenges of building on a site close to an operating MRT station and underground services, while maintaining high construction safety standards. They also harnessed advanced technologies such as painting robots to boost productivity.

From the waterfront-mirroring hues of Berlayar Residences to the heritage-inspired features of Mount Pleasant Crest, every HDB project is designed to respond to its setting and take on an identity of its own.

Behind the scenes, HDB’s standardised unit plans provide architects with a tried-and-tested starting point for designing your home. Key spaces such as bedrooms and bathrooms follow established parameters that have been refined to keep the layouts functional and efficient, while areas such as the living room and kitchen remain flexible to suit project designs.

The result? A common foundation for well-designed homes, with room for architects to create distinctive buildings and neighbourhoods. ✨

MacPherson Weave was built on a tight site next to an operating MRT station. The team also received the Construction Award for completing underground works early to free up space, using real-time monitoring to safeguard MRT infrastructure, and bringing in painting robots to enhance their productivity. The maze garden at the project features icons of MacPherson, such as the existing Pipit Road mini-dragon playground (which you can also check out nearby at Block 53).

At Costa Grove, located beside mangrove habitats in Pasir Ris, the construction team adapted its piling design and used smaller machinery to work around nearby trees to minimise impact from the development on the environment. For their efforts, they received the Construction Award this year. Fun fact: This BTO project has mangrove-themed playgrounds, with animals such as a lobster (featured) and mudskipper!

Over at Garden Vale @ Tengah, parts of the flats “pop out” from the blocks, giving the façades their distinctive 3D look for this Design Award winner. This comes from arranging different flat layouts in varying combinations across the blocks. Fellow winner Garden Vines @ Tengah was also designed the same way by the same team of architects.

At Toa Payoh Ridge, this Design Award winner sports a green-and-white façade that takes inspiration from rainwater flowing down the area's sloping terrain. You’ll also notice how the blocks step down in height towards the neighbouring low-rise homes.

What goes into an award-winning HDB project? Sometimes, it’s in the little details you might not notice at first glance, such as the façades, site layouts and flat designs 👀🏡

Check out what made these four projects stand out at this year’s HDB Awards, which are conferred on teams that have pushed the boundaries of design, construction and engineering when it comes to public housing.

Robots and smart technology are lending a hand at our BTO construction sites. 🏗️🤖

We’re stepping up the use of robotics and automation to take on repetitive and manpower-intensive work, helping our industry build more productively while maintaining quality.

One example is the Smart Passenger & Material (PM) Hoist, which workers can call directly to ferry workers and materials between floors. Instead of having one dedicated operator for each hoist, one worker can supervise up to three Smart PM Hoists – freeing up manpower for other tasks. Following promising trials, we’ll progressively deploy these smart hoists at about 50% of BTO sites tendered from 2027.

We’re also expanding trials of screeding robots to help with the labour-intensive work of levelling and smoothing floor surfaces alongside painting robots that are already in use, and introducing greater standardisation of precast components to make design and construction more efficient.

Together with our industry partners, we will continue to harness technology and new ways of building to raise construction productivity and support the timely delivery of quality homes. 🏠
