Russian Experts Share Water Management Expertise with South African Public Servants
🇷🇺🤝🇿🇦 On 6 October 2026, a specialized training course for South African public servants opened in Pretoria. Jointly organised by the Russian Presidential Academy (#RANEPA) and the National School of Government (#NSG), the opening ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Ms Phindile Mkwanazi, Acting Principal of the National School of Government, Mr Evgenii Sadikov, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in South Africa, and Ms Mapatane Kgomo, Acting CEO of the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (#MISA) under the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (#COGTA).
🎙 In his speech, Mr Evgenii Sadikov emphasized that continuously building knowledge is vital for public servants addressing modern challenges. He highlighted that smart water management is critical to economic security, social stability, public health and long-term national competitiveness.
🎓 The week-long programme, focused on water resources and climate change, addresses critical challenges in modern water security. Leading Russian experts from RANEPA, the Water Problems Institute, the State Hydrological Institute and the Lomonosov Moscow State University are sharing their expertise with the South African participants.
✨ This initiative represents another practical step in strengthening cooperation between Russia and South Africa in science, education and professional training. The programme aims to empower local administrators to protect vital water resources against growing climate and human-induced pressures.
