The meeting focused on the issues of mutual interest deriving from the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Lesotho. Special attention was paid to expanding bilateral economic cooperation, promoting higher education opportunities and other priority areas.
🤝 The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Lesotho Side for the participation in the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, held in Cairo in December 2025.
“We attach great importance to Lesotho’s engagements within the Forum and look forward to the participation of the Lesotho Side in the Russia-Africa Summit this year. We are confident that engagement in the Forum’s activities will bring tangible benefits to Lesotho,” Roman Ambarov said.
☝️ The two sides noted the close alignment of their positions on key international issues, reaffirming their shared commitment to genuine sovereignty and the right of states to pursue independent development free from external pressure. The enduring values of freedom, independence, and sovereignty-central to Africa’s anti-colonial struggle were underscored as highly relevant today.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for Lesotho’s support of Russian-initiated and co-sponsored UN General Assembly resolutions, including those aimed at combating the glorification of Nazism and establishing 14 December as the International Day against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations.
The talks also covered promising areas of economic cooperation and prospective participation of Lesotho delegations in major international events to be held in Russia in 2026.
