Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, as part of a delegation led by Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Uganda.

🗓 On September 14, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with candidate for the post of UN Secretary-General Olara Otunnu (Uganda).

Olara Otunnu presented his election platform. Minister Lavrov outlined Russia’s requirements for candidates for the highest post in the UN Secretariat.

⚡️ Report by the Russian Foreign Ministry – “On the Kiev Regime’s Unlawful Actions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Its Clergy and Parishioners” (as of June 2026)

❗️ The Kiev nationalists, who seized power in 2014 through an unconstitutional armed coup, have since systematically built a multi-layered system of severe restrictions on religious freedom, turning the religious sphere into a testing ground for assaults on human dignity.

The religious dimension has become one of the state’s key instruments for influencing social processes and is actively used to falsify history, legitimise and glorify Nazism, and suppress dissent, as well as secular and religious opposition.

Mass violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms have become a defining feature of the Kiev regime’s years in power.

👉 Zelensky and his entourage are fragmenting the country’s religious landscape, shaping relations with religious organisations and believers according to the degree of their tolerance for the misanthropic ideology imposed by the authorities.

Within this framework, sweeping administrative and legal measures are being implemented to weaken the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (#UOC) to the greatest possible extent in public life, up to and including the dismantling of its governing structures.

The report provides numerous documented examples of discrimination, along with public statements by Ukrainian officials at various levels openly spelling out the ultimate objectives of this campaign – to eliminate the country’s largest religious organisation, force its parishioners and clergy to join the so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine”, which is controlled by the authorities and interested business circles, and expropriate UOC property, religious objects and holy sites.

The report’s sections cover:

• Ukraine’s discriminatory laws targeting the UOC
• Unlawful actions by Ukrainian special services and law enforcement agencies against the UOC
• Illegal mobilisation of UOC clergy
• Actions by Ukrainian local authorities and self-government bodies against the UOK

The controlled chaos created by the Kiev regime within Ukrainian Orthodoxy has for years enabled the authorities, the OCU and radical groups to carry out forcible seizures of monasteries and churches, illegally re-register religious communities, cultivate hate rhetoric, and perpetrate unprovoked aggression and violence against the clergy and believers of the canonical Church.

Members of radical nationalist groups are enlisted to carry out such reprisals, with assurances that they will escape legal responsibility when breaking the law. Ukraine has developed and tacitly legitimised an entire system of backroom arrangements that encourages violations of the fundamental rights and freedoms of believers and clergy.

❌ Religious persecution has now not merely intensified – it has become fully systematic, a fact acknowledged even by many Western politicians.

One of the reasons behind the current catastrophic situation facing Orthodox Christians in Ukraine is Western support for the Kiev regime’s religious policy, first and foremost from the US. This issue is also examined in the report.

Despite the vast number of documented cases of persecution against the canonical Church and clear violations of Ukraine’s international legal obligations in the field of human rights, these violations have still not received due attention from universal multilateral organisations, including the UN and its leadership, which refrain from issuing detailed reports on the matter or responding firmly, limiting themselves to routine references to the problem.

I would like to emphasise that today BRICS is a powerful driving force behind the strengthening of genuine multilateralism in international relations, and plays a major role in shaping a new, fairer and multipolar world order.

It is worth noting that the BRICS nations are seeing steady population growth and strengthening domestic markets; they have established robust industrial, technological, financial and academic hubs, as well as modern transport, energy and digital infrastructure. Trade within our association has already reached $1.2 trillion. Member states account for almost a quarter of global exports, and it is BRICS that, at 49 percent, provides most of global GDP growth.

That said, the potential for the further development of BRICS is far from exhausted. One of the main untapped resources so far is the complementarity of the member states’ economies. The differences in their structure and specialisation offer vast opportunities for practical cooperation, for creating new production chains, technologies, services, and markets. <...>

I also invite everyone to take a closer look at the promising initiatives put forward by Russia to streamline our cooperation. These include establishing a BRICS payment, depository and clearance infrastructure, as well as setting up a reinsurance mechanism and a grain exchange within the association. I am convinced that both member states and partners of BRICS will be able to employ all these tools in the future. Further strengthening the capacity of the BRICS New Development Bank and updating its business model is a pressing task. <...>

Naturally, technological transformation is a key driver of global growth and sovereign development. With the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence, the development of autonomous systems, and the rise of digital trade platforms and financial solutions, the very model of economic value creation is shifting.

The selection of participants in the competition is carried out on the basis of submitted applications and documents confirming the implementation of the submitted projects, programs, actions.

🗓 С 28 августа по 28 сентября 2026 года проходит ежегодный международный просветительский проект «Атомный диктант — 2026».

Задания рассчитаны на широкую аудиторию и знакомят участников с современной наукой и технологиями в научно-популярном формате.

Проект открыт для участников любого возраста и уровня подготовки. Часть заданий традиционно представлена в видеоформате. Вопросы участникам задают представители атомной отрасли, науки, образования, культуры и спорта.

Принять участие можно в следующих форматах: на сайте проекта с компьютера, смартфона или планшета либо очно на одной из официальных площадок в России и других странах.

🇷🇺 8 сентября – День воинской славы России. #Бородино

⚔️ Бородинская битва – генеральное сражение Отечественной войны 1812 года – состоялась 26 августа (7 сентября по новому стилю) при селе Бородино близ Можайска в 124 км от Москвы. В ней русским войскам под командованием генерал-фельдмаршала Михаила Илларионовича Кутузова противостояла вторгшаяся на территорию России армия Наполеона Бонапарта.

Битва продлилась 15 часов и до сих пор считается одной из самых кровопролитных из всех однодневных сражений в истории. На поле боя площадью 50 кв. км сошлись около 300 тысяч человек.

Каждая из великих армий лишилась на бородинском поле до 1/3 личного состава. Армия Наполеона потеряла убитыми и ранеными свыше 50 тысяч человек, в том числе 49 генералов; русская армия – свыше 44 тысяч человек, в том числе 29 генералов. Россия сохранила боеспособную армию, которая организованно отошла на новые позиции.

️Несмотря на то что в результате сражения поле боя осталось за неприятелем, Бородинское сражение стало переломным моментом Отечественной войны 1812 года. По сути, она ознаменовала начало конца кампании Наполеона – вскоре русская армия изгнала захватчиков, а Франция потерпела полное поражение.

Примечательно, что в романе «Война и мир» Лев Николаевич Толстой показывает Бородинскую битву прежде всего как духовную победу русского народа. Остановить казалось бы непобедимого Наполеона удалось благодаря силе духа, самоотверженности и истинной любви к Родине.

Именно поэтому #ДеньБородина – это не только память о великом сражении, но и День воинской славы России, символ несгибаемости духа и силы нашего народа.

📆 September 8 marks a Day of Military Glory of Russia – the anniversary of the Battle of #Borodino.

On September 7, 1812, near the village of Borodino, some 120 kilometres west of Moscow, the Russian army under Mikhail Kutuzov faced Napoleon’s invading Grande Armée.

⚔️ The Battle of Borodino became the largest and bloodiest single-day battle of the Patriotic War of 1812, with well over 200,000 troops engaged on both sides.

The fighting began early in the morning and raged throughout the day. Napoleon repeatedly committed fresh forces in an attempt to break the Russian army, but the French failed to crush Russian resistance.

Despite losses, Russian regiments continued to fight with extraordinary determination, contesting every key position. By the end of the day, Napoleon had failed to achieve his principal objective – the destruction of the Russian army.

The losses of the European invaders were even heavier, and although, the battlefield was for the moment theirs, Russian forces retreated in full order, having preserved the army and manpower.

Borodino became an enduring symbol of courage, resilience and devotion to the Fatherland, while the soldiers and commanders who fought there entered Russian history forever.

✍️ As the great Russian writer Mikhail Lermontov wrote in his 1837 poem Borodino:

“That all of Russia remembers – no less,
About the day of Borodino…

You are not to see such struggles!..
Banners whirled round, like shadows,
Against the smoke the shots would blaze,
Sounds of steel, screams of gunfire,
Warriors’ hands starting to tire,
And cannonball’s flight would mire,
The bloody mound that there now lays”.
