On September 17, the Victory Museum in Moscow hosted the opening of the IV Congress of the International Russophile Movement (IRM), bringing together around 300 participants from more than 50 countries.
🇵🇰 Pakistan was represented by Saqib Khan, Chairman of the Eurasian Peoples’ Friendship Forum and an IRM member, as well as representatives of Pakistani youth.
🕊 The Congress plenary session was opened by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who emphasized that, under President Vladimir Putin, Russia pursues an independent, pragmatic and peaceful foreign policy, developing ties with allies, partners and like-minded countries and organizations around the world.
💬 The Russian Foreign Minister placed particular emphasis on the importance of strengthening ties among the countries of Eurasia:
“We are paying particular attention to the vast Eurasian continent, which, despite the existence of individual subregional entities in the former Soviet Union, ASEAN, the Gulf Cooperation, and a number of others, has no continent-wide organization. Looking ahead, we believe it would quite possible to consider developing the wealth that God and history have bestowed on the world’s largest continent and promoting the idea of a Greater Eurasian Partnership that would be open to all countries of Eurasia and would help prevent external interference in our continent's affairs.”
🖼 The Congress also featured an extensive cultural program, including the international “Russophiles Retro Rally,” which traveled from the Russian Foreign Ministry to VDNH. Foreign delegates also visited a thematic exhibition at the National Centre “Russia”, showcasing the country’s natural, cultural and technological diversity.
💬 Saqib Khan summed up his participation in the IV IRM Congress:
“Participating in the Congress was particularly meaningful to me in the context of developing international contacts, strengthening humanitarian cooperation, and expanding interaction among representatives of Pakistan, Russia and other Eurasian countries.”
