🇷🇺🇮🇳 On October 9, the International Roerich Memorial Trust in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh, hosted the international festival “Ashram of Culture”, dedicated to the custodians of the cultural heritage of Russia and India. This year the festival coincides with celebrations marking the 152nd birth anniversary of Nicholas Roerich.
🕊️ Traditionally the program began with a prayer puja ceremony at the Roerich Estate. Deputy Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Manali Gunjeet Singh Cheema participated in the ceremony of hoisting the national flags of Russia and India, as well as the Banner of Peace.
🎙️ The festival was inaugurated by Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov.
🎨 The exhibition hall of the estate demonstrated artworks by students of Green Field Senior Secondary School in Nagrota Bagwan on the theme “Roerich Estate — Ashram of Culture in the Himalayas.” An exhibition titled “Altai Sun”, featuring works by artists and craftsmen from the Uimon Valley in Russia’s Altai region, was also inaugurated, while an arts and crafts fair was held on the ground of complex.
🏆 The festival continued with the award ceremony for the winners of the children’s drawing competition “The World of the Roerichs”, followed by performances by students and teachers of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts, as well as Russian and Indian guests.
🎶 Delegates of the 14th All-India Conference of Russian Compatriots, held in Naggar during the same period, also took part in the festival. They presented a variety of musical performances, enriching the cultural programme and highlighting the role of Russian compatriots in preserving and promoting Russia’s cultural heritage abroad.
