🎙️Answer by the Embassy of Russia in Denmark to a question from “Izvestia” newspaper (March 2, 2026)

The Embassy's comment was sent on February 27, 2026.

❓Question: Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen is open to discussing co-financing nuclear programs or storing nuclear weapons on Danish soil. Is Copenhagen making any real preparations to host nuclear weapons carriers in the future?

💬 Answer: For the past 70 years, Denmark has maintained a policy of not deploying nuclear weapons on its territory in peacetime. However, today experts and individual leaders of political parties are questioning the relevance of such previously unshakable attitudes.

Attempts are being made to launch a nationwide discussion on the creation of a "European nuclear umbrella" independent of the United States and the possible role of Denmark in this process. However, it is premature to talk about changes in Danish policy on nuclear weapons issues.

Preparations for the reception and deployment of nuclear weapons by Copenhagen are not underway. There are no solutions in this regard. In addition, none of the nuclear powers has expressed interest in using Danish territory to deploy their nuclear weapons.
