Excerpts from the interview with Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin to the TASS news agency (January 20, 2026)

• As a result of repressive moves by the Danish government, the staff of the Russian diplomatic mission has been reduced several-fold. The trade mission has been closed. Major restrictions on the activities of the Russian Center for Science and Culture have been imposed. And the Copenhagen City Council has threatened to seize the land on which the buildings of the Russian diplomatic mission are located.

• Handling practical issues, including obtaining and renewing accreditation for our employees, access to banking services, as well as maintenance of vehicles and engineering equipment have been extremely complicated.

• The Embassy in Denmark is operating in the face of tough opposition from the Danish authorities and an actual blockade.
