On June 29, 2022, blogger and leader of the Shariy Party, Anatoly Shariy, commented on the decision of the administrative court in the city of Lviv: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ewBOBcRenE0#menu.
On June 16, 2022, this court banned the opposition Shariy Party, as well as banned 13 other leftist and opposition parties: https://t.me/repressionoftheleft/789.
The Lviv court denied the representative of the Shariy Party, Valentin Rybin, the right to take part in the court session using a video conference: https://t.me/repressionoftheleft/779.
Rybin could not attend the court hearing in person, as he left Ukraine for an EU country due to political persecution.
A month ago, law enforcement agencies in Ukraine opened a criminal case against lawyer Rybin for his statements on the WhatsApp social network.
The trial to ban the Shariy Party, like many other parties, was held behind closed doors.
The court decision to ban Shariy Party was the first publicly known decision to ban political parties in Ukraine.
The only reason for the ban of the Shariy Party was the statements of its leader Anatoly Shariy in the social networks YouTube and Telegram.
Anatoly Shariy is not the formal leader of the party (Olga Bondarenko is the head of the party) and the Shariy Party itself was founded in 2019.
But the court recognized the statements of Anatoly Shariy since 2014, in which the blogger criticized the Kharkiv prosecutor's office, the election process, and state authorities of Ukraine, as grounds for banning the party.
In fact, the Lviv court said: if any member of any party criticizes the Kyiv authorities (which is natural in any democratic society), then such a party in Ukraine will be banned.
