Medvedchuk is a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the leader of the now banned opposition party Opposition Platform for Life. The party had the second largest faction in parliament.

Viktor Medvedchuk was arrested and also charged with "high treason".

According to many, Viktor Medvedchuk, judging by his photo presented by the Kyiv authorities, is being tortured.

During the search, the SBU found materials on the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine, the book "Ukrainian Crisis and Security Problems in Eurasia" from the " Medvedchuk's technologist".

Also, a correspondence with a subscriber from Russia was found in the suspect's phone, in which the time of the speech on the air of Russian television is discussed.

For all this, the "political strategist" faces 15 years in prison.
