Anatoly Shariy is an opposition journalist and leader of the opposition Shariy Party, which, as a result of local elections in 2020, gained representation in the city councils of many large cities in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Shariy received asylum in the European Union and lives in Spain.

The activities of the Shariy Party, along with the activities of all left-wing parties in Ukraine, are banned on March 20, 2022 by Zelensky's decree.

On June 16, a court in Lvov will consider a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine for a complete ban on the Shariy Party and a number of other opposition parties.

The power structures of the Kyiv authorities accuse "Shariy's supporters" of "high treason", "collaboration activities" and "justifying or denying Russian aggression."

But it turns out that many of the detainees have nothing to do with either Shariy or his party.

On June 2, 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced that it had submitted to the court the criminal case of "Shariy's accomplice" from the city of Vinnitsa (under the control of the Kyiv authorities).

It turned out that the accused woman was a nanny from a kindergarten. Evidence of her "treason" - correspondence with relatives in the Russian Federation.

She has nothing to do with Shariy or his party.

On June 3, 2022, the patrol police of the city of Kyiv reported that they had detained another supporter of the Shariy Party on Stepan Bandera Avenue.

The police also reported that the detainee had Anatoly Shariy's business cards with him.

What the police found on the detainee turned out to be a photo on his phone.

This photo is widely circulated on the Internet and it shows maps of the Shariy Party, which do not contain Anatoly's contacts.

Shariy himself said that he never had business cards.

Obviously, the security forces of the Kyiv authorities detain people who are not related to Shariy, but who are in opposition to this government, and, on the basis of their personal correspondence or photos on the phone, without any reason, connect them with the Shariy Party.

All this is done in order to create "sufficient grounds" for the party to be banned in court.

And in order to start a new wave of repressions against the opposition.
