Joel 3:12-14 proves two biblical truths
β‘οΈGod distinguishes man's works from the heart: turn their heart to God/rend their heart, vs choosing to fast+weep/mourn-Note words "NOT YOUR GARMENTS"
β‘οΈRepentance for salvation does not mean turn from sins; in verses 13+14, God mentions His option to repent of the evil yet does not sin. Evil in the Bible also can mean punishment (Joel 3:1-14πGod choosing to punish or not punish Judah with His invasionπJonah 3:10-11πGod turned away from the evil he would do unto Nineveh)
Joel 3:12-14 KJB
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?
