The court found him guilty of embezzling roughly $50M in customer crypto and using falsified documents to obtain virtual-asset business registration.
Prosecutors had accused him of taking around $175M from roughly 2,800 customers, but the court acquitted him on the main charge after ruling that key evidence had been illegally obtained.
Jeong was taken into custody following the verdict.
