Criminals reportedly believed a French home was still connected to wealthy former crypto holders whose personal information had leaked online.
The new owners were targeted three times.
The first crew fled after encountering the dogs.
The second broke in and assaulted the couple before realizing they had the wrong target. A third group returned weeks later but fled after triggering an alarm.
Two suspects have since been sentenced.
