On Friday's "The Five," FOX News contributor Harold Ford Jr. reacts to former President Barack Obama's statement that things "would be better" if women were in charge of the world (https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2026/09/25/obama_i_strongly_believe_things_would_be_better_if_women_were_in_charge_of_every_government_for_two_years.html).

JESSE WATTERS: Why do you think he's saying something like this? Is he looking for, I don't know, approval from Michelle? What kind -- or is he just fantasizing about being controlled by women? Is it a fetish, Harold.

HAROLD FORD JR.: Good to be with everybody. I'd say, I don't know. I can't -- I don't know what made him -- what made him fantasize about these things. But I do think just to respond a little bit to Greg and Jacqui. Just because one Black woman screws up doesn't mean that we don't have Black women or women do anything. I mean, think about all the White presidents we had that screwed up, and we still kept electing White men.

GREG GUTFELD: No one said that, though, Harold. That was a straw man argument. How dare you?

FORD JR.: Jacqui just said something along the lines about it didn't go so well for. She may not have meant what was --

GUTFELD: He's calling you a racist.

HEINRICH: No, I meant that when you make a commitment to choose someone based on something like a demographic, rather than the candidate themselves.

FORD JR.: Right. But I don't think -- I think that she just did a -- I don't think she did it a particularly effective job not because of that if someone doesn't do an effective job. But Greg, --

GUTFELD: She was picked as a DEI choice, so.

FORD JR.: Let me get to you now. So, women in 40 -- last 45 years it took this country we're 250 years old, it took us 205 years into our identity to finally put a woman on the Supreme Court, Sandra Day O'Connor went -- Sandra Day O'Connor went on in 1981.

Now, women didn't get the right to vote in the country until 1920, 125 years into our existence. We finally give women the right to vote.

So, I understand what he's talking about as a father, as we both are, my daughter's a little older than yours, of a young, spirited, smart, athletic young woman, I don't -- I support ensuring that there are no barriers to her being able to succeed in whatever it is she wants to succeed in. I know you feel exactly --

GUTFELD: But that's not what he said.

FORD JR.: Well, he did. He was make -- well, I interpreted what he was saying, like, if we put women in charge, that the world might be a better (INAUDIBLE).

GUTFELD: He was trying to ingratiate himself with the audience. You know, you just don't say it. He was -- he does -- he's so -- he is not even trying anymore.

FORD JR.: No, where -- I think you're right. Now where I do agree a hundred percent with what Jacqui said is that I wonder how Hillary Clinton feels listening to this because he defeated the woman at who many in the Democratic Party thought was the most qualified and the most capable person to be -- to be president.

So, look, I can't get in the guy's head at all, and -- but I can say this, I do hope that -- listening, look at you laughing. I do hope and pray that women that we continue to fight to ensure that women face no barriers.
