Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdule El-Sayed, at a "town hall" Saturday in Saginaw, rpeated the basic premise of his campaign: take the money the U.S. spends on war and military aid to Israel, and spend it at home.

ABDUL EL-SAYED: When you look at the school districts that got forced into receivership or emergency management, they are almost always school districts in predominantly Black communities. When you use the historical racism of the past as the engine, you are not serious about social mobility.

We need to fully fund school infrastructure. A lot of people are like, How are you going to pay for that? I don't know - don't send bombs to other places to drop on schools, but here.

We just did $2.8 billion in boms- 2,000-pound bombs. 2,000 bombs never fed anybody. It never built anything. It never taught anybody. $2.8 billion to Israel for 2,000-pound bombs. How are we going to pay for it? Not $2.8 billion in bombs - $2.8 billion in schools.

And then, I believe we need a teacher minimum wage.

And I believe that not only should we be finding teachers, asking teachers to be teachers and nurses and janitors, social workers, mental health professionals - teachers need to be able to be teachers. So you need to hire the other people around the teachers to do those other things.
