Setting up my own family cloud drive for the first time - Nextcloud or Opencloud?

I've been fiddling with a Ugreen NAS I got a few months ago and meanwhile I've set up several little container projects using the inbuilt docker engine and app.

However, the main aim was to move away from things like OneDrive and Google Drive, so now it's time to set up a cloud drive service.

From what I've read, Nextcloud is the more established, widely used service, but the newer Opencloud is seemingly much faster and sleeker to use. However, I don't seem to get a clear user picture on what is what.

What are your recommendations? If you had to start over today, what would you pick, in terms of speed / ease of use, features, and effort to maintain?

Thank you! :-)
