Multi country / region / continent Immich setup

Has anyone tried setting up Immich instance(s) across continents

You can't share folders across instances so I'm looking to either have one instance or replicate one across servers.

One instance would be easiest but latency and speed might cause issues across continents.

The other might be replication but that's vastly more complicated and might still cause issues.

Any experience with either?

Any media caching solutions I should look into?
