Anyone using Domoticz over HA? Curious to hear your experiences.
Hey, I've setup Home Assistant in my main house and been using it happily for a couple of switches and all for some time now. I'm not using any of its fancy features of making it a complete home interface, and probably not going to.
Hence, for another home, I was thinking of trying out Domoticz. I need to buy new devices or DIY them, so I can do them keeping in mind about Domoticz support from the get go, so compatibility wouldn't be a big issue (I hope). Mostly planning on Sonoff and Zigbee2MQTT.
Current Stack:
Home Assistant
Mosquitto as MQTT broker for some stuff
Custom ESPS8266 components
Some Tinxy devices
New (planned) stack:
Domoticz / Home Assistant
Mosquitto as MQTT broker
Zigbee2MQTT
ESPEasy or ESPHome devices
So, my question is: does anyone here use Domoticz still? How's your experience?
Has anyone switched from HA to Domoticz or vice-versa? Why? And how was the migration? How's your new experience?
I also see Gladys but a bit reluctant since it's so new.
The reason I'm considering Domoticz is because for my new self-hosted setup, I want to keep everything really small, and try to run them directly on the system. God bless single binary services! So easy to set them up with per-user systemd!
Although that's not really a hard requirement (Node-RED, Mealie, Actual Budget etc) are going to be in containers. So, yeah. Just a thought experiment. And hearing actual experiences would be super helpful/interesting!
I'm also thinking if the migration is/was painful, might as well just set them both up and see how it holds up? Domoticz being a single binary and having everything mostly contained in a single SQLite file is super interesting to me. Well, this is mostly just a guess from my end based on their documentation/getting started guide.
