Rant: Selfhosted community is way too angry for no reason.
Don't downvote, read till the end.
Recently I posted this article https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/1x1qxvi/selfhosted\_spotify/ where I explained how to get to something that looks and plays like spotify.
Aside from some questions and comments - the most upvoted comment is that article is ad for the player. This made me upset, honestly.
You complain about stuff being vibecoded, you complain about posts being LLM written and yet when someone comes with manually coded app which was started even before LLMs, when someone writes article fully manually and shares some knowledge - instead of support, or just ignoring if you dont like something - you start accusing people about something.
Every single component of my article is free and OSS, I do not charge money for player, jellyfin/enby/navi are free, audiomuse is free.
So, explain - why are you still complaining? You don't like my app - fair, but I also didnt ask you to pay or do anything, while in fact sharing knowledge I learned during years working with music subject of self-hosting.
With all respect, but I feel like a lot of community members are only consumers in a fact - they demand more and more every time without giving anything back to community and even blaming you for stuff that you "mf-er decided to mention your piece of software you made in article you wrote".
I'm member of community for quite long time and even few years ago it was more chill, people were more friendly.
Is it me, or community really changed?
Thanks for reading till the end, I just wanted to share my rant and that it really demotivates me and probably other people from creating genuine, human-written content.
PS: Even this post probably will be down voted too, for the same reason.
PPS: I'm sure, even if I'd mention ahead that my article mentions the tool I work on since 2023(surprise) - those people would fine another reason to complain.
