Anyone want to work with me on this or on this? Or maybe even spend the 60$ in Ai to do this?

It's a universal package manager for Linux and BSD. it requires a good know how of many different operating systems package managers

It interfaces with each package manager on each different operating system and allows stuff like, ill call it gas, someone can come up with a better name, but gas types well

gas install linux-headers

and it'll check what operating system its using, finds the package manager, does some other stuff, maybe check a database instead of querying the package manager, and runs apt install linux-headers if using debian, however if its using federa it'll trigger yum install linux-headers

not sure about bsd since thats another operating system, there can be a seperate, non zygous method of reading ports and interfacing with pkg

it should try to aim for having all functionality as all package managers supported, which means gas --rebuild-rpm should work only for rhel based distributions unless specified a binary or something to do the work on that specific operating system, while gas install emacs should try to work with all distributions, and everything should be logged to a sql database. it would be awesome of both sqllite3 and mariadb would be supported. errors need to be reported and can be audited, possibly for security reasons, possibly.

it should have a feature to dump package names and other meta data to a sql database, including additional metadata from each package manager like dnf grouplist, and it should have an option of updating that sql database with more current data

also there should be an option to package a source and make a package, and or compile a normal unix program, so if i download the source to slrn, or make a program, i can run gas compile makepkg install in that directory and it'll check dependencies (magic i guess), compile using a number 1-5x jobs (24 core = make -j96 or implement some algorithm for that, itll run distro specific packaging tools, and it'll probably install the package, or maybe just the source, your call, there can be a switch for that

an x11 gui would be nice for the package manager database and logging interface too, and should work as a frontend to the gas program, and yeah would be nice if it was completely portable, either c/gtk or maybe even pygtk, and if security needs to be audited each action can be logged, ie 12pm linux-kernel updated 12:01pm glibc compiled and packaged, etc

Heres the sad part, youre going to have to break your wallet if going ai but without ai its managable with documentation in making sure this package manager is compatible with as many possible versions of unix-like operating systems, so there could be bugs with older, lets say, debian 6 operating systems

Your call! have fun, if you want me to help or if you want a reddit project like this or something chime in!
