Rant against Ubuntu

I had windows on my machine, but quite lately I was annoyed with windows pushing too much of AI so I switched to Ubuntu. I have used Ubuntu in my college days seven years ago. From last two weeks my experience with Ubuntu has been very bad. I have Lenovo legion 7i.

I have faced several issues.

WiFi getting repeatedly stuck while streaming Netflix or any other movie service.

when I download the folder from one drive web, the zip does not contain all files. Many files just errors out. I tried at least 10 times.

I thought now I could do gaming on Ubuntu and I can't be more wrong. my bad I did not do enough research for the games I play. But really I play very famous games like FIFA and RDR2 and even those are not supported.

Nothing I need is supported out of the box like davinci for video editing, games I play. I can install davinci but you need other party apps to make some encoders work. Due to this I can't use some of the davinci premium features on Ubuntu without relying on third party (I have not tried third party and really I don't think now I will) officially it is not supported on Ubuntu.

My external hard disk was not recognized as I used it before on Windows. I did some troubleshooting but quite honestly I don't even understand the commands I am running. Now yes I can learn all the commands, but it is not the right answer. it should be supported out of the box or there should be some easy steps to do this through GUI.

I connected my one drive account using GNOME and I am sorry to say but it sucks. it is struggling to download large files and it is not close to one drive integration of windows. Yes I understand that windows and one drive are owned by one lord Microsoft but why then even offer this integration on Ubuntu? it sucks.

I had to calibrate my touch pad before it gets usable.

Now in 2026 if we can't use these basic softwares for video editing or really famous games like RDR2, or a very popular cloud service, then how would Ubuntu replace windows?

I am really annoyed why softwares are getting worse. Windows is shooting itself in the head for profits and AI and nothing new and popular is supported on Ubuntu. This is very dying situation.

And life is more than coding for which Ubuntu is great, but in 2026, these popular things should be present and supported in Ubuntu out of the box. I understand the problem is complicated and companies do not see enough incentives to develop their apps for Ubuntu but my experience was very bad and I have no other choice to switch back to windows.
