The right distro

TLDR: Use what you like and is distro hopping worth it if your on a distro that you found works for your setup before trying other ones?

I have recently been dabbling back with Linux after many years, it seems it more than ever a higher possibility to permanently stay.

One thing I have to admit I was looking at it worng expecting Liunx behaves like Windows. For me was the follwing cuecks:

1) Hardware and Software combatability

Run a live boot of a distro and test if your hardware works and there are good drovers for them e.g Mouse, Keyboad, Mic and gaming controllers. Also your monitor and GPU. (I have a nvidia card and notoced the open sorice driver felt and gave better experance. Fixed my sleep issue where my GPU would not wake up after sleeping. Acutually test your har

Check if your software you like supports linux or look for alternatives that might work for you. For me it it was moslty good, for the no so grate or does not work I search for alternatives and find some good ones. For example I found Wallpeper Engine not working well, the best good alternative for me is Smart Video Wallpaper Reborn.

Do the games you like to play work well with proton db, be preapred to vist ProtonDB to help find tweaks if you have some preforemce isse with a game?

2) Choosing the right Desktop enviorment that works best for you and customise it how you like it!

I took for granted how much of a diffrence this a makes and affects your experience. Not everyone like the same shoes, it just trail and error

I am loving vast amount of custmabailty, for me keeping it simple was best. For some making your setup more complicated that it needs to be will affter your experance.

One thing is dont try to make Linux like windows, make it how you wish you want your desktop to be. The environment is your oyster

3) Optimizing any bugs or resources. This can be like my sleep bug with your GPU or Bluettoth not turijg on boot.

Nothing js perfect, sometimes things migjt brake with updsteds or new bugs appear and be prepared to make some tweaks time to time.

Luckily I manged to have a diffrent thought process and manged to sus out my setup. Honstly I am happy I have snappy simple setup thst works! No bloatware! Meware!

I cant see myself distro hopping yet, my question is does everyone evntually distro hop when they are not happy, mostly bored and want change or both?
