Is Dell really Linux friendly?

I was pricing a Dell XPS 13 and was surprised to see the OS section showing an Ubuntu install would cost an additional $410.

I think went to Lenovo and see the price would decrease if you picked Ubuntu. The price drops $94.

I just found this surprising since I heard Dells were very good with Linux and they even certify some models.
