What distro is actually noob friendly?
Hi,
This will be a dumb rant. I am not asking for support.
I was distro-hopping with Linux \~7 years ago and it ended in frustration so I went back to Windows. I tried a dozen different distros from Ubuntu to Manjaro to Elementary OS. Only Mint worked out of the box. All other distros had some sort of annoying bug. And the Mint software center was actually useful, but the selection was pretty limited. So I went back to Windows.
It didn't help that Windows 10 was actually good. I know it sounds blasphemous to say this here. Fast forward to now, Windows 11 makes me want to switch to Linux again.
Lately, I watched a bunch of Linux videos. I am so overwhelmed by the number of distros. But they all look the same. They all use a desktop environment like Gnome, KDE or Cinnamon (looks like KDE). So what's the point!? I went on Distrosea to try out every major distro. I was so bored by the amount of Gnome/KDE desktops. I can't tell Aeryn Linux from Alma Linux, from Debian, from Fedora apart. They're all the same.
Oh... The point is: software installation. Y'all are crazy. There are different formats like flatpak, snap, dnf etc... I am so confused.
Apparently, snap will make your computer explode upon installation. Snap is the devil. So does that automatically exclude Ubuntu and its variants?
Is there a distro somewhere with an easy to use software center with a huge selection? Or are you supposed to enable flathub and get on with your life?
My point is: I have a hard time seeing why Almalinux is less "beginner friendly" than Ubuntu if you're gonna install flathub anyways...
