A severe breakdown in Gaza's health infrastructure is turning treatable illnesses into life-threatening risks.

A September 2026 report reveals that 12 of 34 hospitals are out of service and 22 operate only partially, leaving North Gaza and Rafah entirely without hospital beds.

The sector has lost 34.6% of its Ministry of Health doctors, while diagnostic imaging devices dropped 62.2%. Critical supplies are depleted, with zero stock for 44% of essential medicines and 54% of medical consumables, halting services like open-heart surgery.

Meanwhile, roughly 21,000 patients await medical evacuation, but 2,027 died waiting. Only 14% have been evacuated since February 2026. Incubators also fell from 162 to 122, while 30% of pregnant women face high-risk conditions.
